captian tuttle first enlisted in the 21 ny inf, in buffalo but never saw combat with that unit. he received a commision to raise a company for the 116 and served during the port hudson campaign. he was kia at the battle of donaldsonville la july 16 1863. prior to the war he was a fireman.
